Gustava's litter

Gustava gave birth to three very healthy looking kits on Friday! This is her first litter since I've had her, but she's had three litters total.

These pictures were taken the morning after they were born, but when they were first born they were so plump! Their little bellies were full and they looked so content!

The black kit had it's arm around their sibling! So precious!
I can't wait to find out their genders so I can start saying 'he' and 'she' :)

Light colored kit. Has some light markings on the back and head, I'm guessing it's going to be a broken blue tort (hopefully otter), but we'll see when the fur comes in more what color it will be.

This is my first litter of Velveteens, and my first litter dealing with otters, so I'm very excited!

This one appears to be solid black just like Gustava. I love the variation of colors in this litter! I got light, dark, and otter! Much more exciting than getting a litter of all the same colors, but whatever the colors, I'm just happy that they're all healthy and their are no peanuts or worrisome issues!

This kit is black otter. I'm really hoping it's a female so I can rationalize keeping it, I don't need any more males in my rabbitry currently, but I am in love with this color, especially on Velveteens!

I'm super excited to be getting into otters. I always thought it would be really cool to own an otter, and now I do! :)

This little cutie knows how to pose so well! This kit makes my heart melt!

This is the dam, Gustava. She has been insanely sweet since the moment I brought her home! She has let me touch the kits and hasn't seem upset in the slightest, she comes in and see's what I'm doing and then goes back out, she is insanely laid back and such a sweetheart! <3 The rabbit in the back about gave me a heart attack when I took this picture, but luckily she was just sleeping! I've noticed English lops seem to sleep on their sides like that a lot. It's adorable but also terrifying!

This is the sire, Arlo. He came named 'Bee,' but I thought Arlo fit him very well. I got him not knowing he was otter, and the owner didn't know either, and it was even marked on his pedigree that he was just broken black. I was very excited to learn that he was broken black otter and am very glad I got to welcome him to my rabbitry.

Thanks for checking out my posting! Keep an eye out for more pictures and updates on this and other litters. Hopefully sometime in the near future I will have a litter of Pedigreed English lops too!

Breeding Ophelia/Phillip and Gustava/Arlo

Late May and early June I welcomed two new rabbits to my rabbitry. The first rabbit is Arlo. His name was Bee when I got him and he has 'Bee' tattooed on the inside of his ear, but I think the name Arlo fits him well. He is a broken black otter Mini Rex buck, fully pedigreed. The second addition to my rabbitry is Ophelia. She is a blue tort English Lop doe.

She has nice, long ears, and she's a very sweet girl. She's a proven doe who comes from a great line. She is a nice, broad doe who will make a good breeder.

A few days after I adopted Ophelia I attempted to breed her with my English/Velveteen male, Phillip. He just turned 3 years old in June. He has never been bred and this far has just been a pet. My plan was to get him a girl and get into English lops.

He tried breeding her, and she was very patient with him, but he was more interested with licking her ears and even biting her ears than actually breeding her.

She got very frustrated with him.

After a few tries with long breaks in between, I decided to let little Arlo have a go at it. He was very enthusiastic about it, but with how small he is, he was unable to successfully breed her. It's been about a month since I bred them. I will be trying to get her a proven male soon, I would like to have a litter of English lops before the year is over, so I need to move fast, my window for breeding this year is closing, and I need to get my last litters in before fall.

Arlo was distracted by the other couple and lost interest in Gustava once he saw them. I had to put a divider between the cages so he could focus on his lady.

Once he was back in focus he did a fantastic job with her! Successfully bred her at least three times, which with breeding rabbits is the magic number! I believe he bred her successfully 5 times. He did a great job!

He's definitely a great male! I love his coloring, he's the first otter rabbit I've ever owned, and hopefully I will get lots of stunning otters out of him!

Thanks for checking out my posting! :)

Bonnie's 2nd litter - 21 days old

Bonnie's litter at 21 days old. Took me a while to post this, they're so much bigger than this already! This posting has been in my drafts and I'm finally going to finish it and post :)

First little guy, already found his forever home. He was my only broken black male from this litter, and of any of my litters this year!

He was a very sweet and curious little guy!

:)

Broken black female, has some chocolate coloring to her fur so I'm not sure if she's a broken black or broken chocolate.

She's a very pretty color, I will post updated pictures of them all and show her coloring more clearly.

I think I'm going to be keeping this female.
Now I'll just need to think up an adorable name to fit her! :)

She has a marking identical to her mother, with a little birthmark on the side of her nose. Only difference is her markings on the opposite side of her nose as her moms. If I keep her I might name her Claudia, the feminine version of Clyde (for Bonnie and Clyde.)

Broken grey male with a VM marking on his nose. He was very sweet and adorable! He already went to his forever home! :)

This little guy looked too cute with his front feet together like this.
He certainly knows how to pose!

Male with the tip of his ear tipped white, just like my male, Fyedka.

This male has a light grey coloring on his sides and more of a light tort color on his back.

Not sure if I'm keeping this girl or not, might be trading her for a BEW female. I would be very excited to introduce blue eyes into my rabbitry!

broken black tort male.

very stunning little guy! He found a forever home already :)

Though they look practically identical, this is a different male as the one above. He also found a forever home.

I love that stripe of color going down his back!

Group picture of all the broken black and grey kits!

All the kits!
