WE holland litter - Four and Misha

It has been a while since I've posted. This is my newest litter in the rabbitry. Misha got out of her cage at the same time Four did and a month later gave birth to a surprise litter of 11 babies! Unfortunately 4 did not make it,  but the 7 that did are gorgeous and healthy! 4 does 3 bucks. All very sweet with stunning markings!

Update post!

It's been a while since I have posted anything and I thought I would make this post about all that is new in the rabbitry! Last post was about my new bunnies, 'Galileo and Callista,' now named Nico and Misha. They have grown so much in the past 8 months or so since I brought them home and Misha is actually raising up one of Nico's litters now! I bred them along with Ophelia & Phillip and Gustava & Arlo. All three does had beautiful litters and none have lost any kits yet! I'm so pleased with how the year is going so far.

Misha has such a sweet and docile personality and is such a good mother, especially for this being her first litter! Since she is not pedigreed and has not had a litter before I wasn't sure what to expect, but she had five stunning kits and I'm not one bit disappointed! They all have stunning blue eyes, except for one REW and one with a marbled eye! Litter was born 4/9/21.

First up is Misha's mini-me! BEW female..Couldn't get a very good shot, every time I went to take a picture she would close her eyes! Only two 'good' shot's I got and in the second one her ears went up lol

This kit is a blue female with heavy VM markings and one white foot that goes up her shoulder. She has stunning vibrant blue eyes and a little bit of white on her right ear.

Blue Chin VM Buck. One eye is solid blue and the other is marbled, a trait he gets from his dad. :)

REW little fluffy boy. Love the way he is laying in this picture with his back feet out flat! He's a cute and curious little guy!

Tri colored female with stunning blue eyes. It was hard to get a good picture of her because she kept trying to eat the carpet and wouldn't pose for me. Might have to keep this one!

Got a much better picture of her the other day. :)

Next up is Ophelia and Phillip's litter. First litter ever for Phillip and first successful litter with Ophelia since I've had her. Litter was born the same day as Misha's, 4/9/21.

Ophelia had 6 stunning kits and they are all doing well and are very adorable! First litter of English I have had yet and I'm very excited to watch them grow, absolutely love the long ears!

Not sure on their exact genders so I just took some group pictures and a couple pictures of this blue tort one who I believe is a buck. Four blue tort kits and two black tort kits.

Lastly for the litters we have Gustava and Arlo's litter of Velveteen Lops. Gustava had two kits the morning after Misha and Ophelia, 4/10/21. Second litter I've had with these two, first litter Gustava gave me 3 kits, one black, one black otter, and one broken blue tort. Sadly the black otter did not make it last year. Was hoping for some otter babies this litter but loving these two chonky little babies so much!

This brother and sister duo were plump from the day they were born! Very healthy and beyond adorable, both of Gustava's litters so far have been nice, hefty weights. She's such a good mama! Besides the fact that she does NOT like to keep the nesting box clean!

This Black doe's ears curl just at the tip for now which gives her a cute almost gothic appearance. Love her fancy little ears and jet black fur.

Broken black tort buck whos ears are not quite flopped yet either. Gustava's last litter's ears didn't flop until after they went to their new homes due to their dad being a Mini Rex, hopefully this litters ears will flop a little sooner but either way they're adorable and I love them.

That's all the new litter's so far this year, but on Saturday I am going up to Selinsgrove PA to sell two of my adult Mini Lops, Brad and Shuntae and get a stud service for Venus and Arctura from that same person. Stud is a BEW Holland lop!

Sable point on the left, Brad. Broken blue tort on the right, Shuntae.

Bought a purebred Pedigreed Harlequin breeding pair 4/9/21, had them home and in their cages not 5 minutes before the male started sneezing a thick dark mucus uncontrollably. I was afraid both were infected so I returned them to the buyer and made them aware of the issue. I was really excited to be adding them to my rabbitry but unfortunately it obviously did not work out. Below are pictures of them, Blue Harlequin was the buck, Magpie was the doe.

Luckily whatever they had did not spread to any of the other bunnies in my rabbitry and I did not have a breakout of whatever it was. Rabbits are all healthy and doing well.

Thanks for checking out my blog! I will try and start posting more regularly and keeping this blog updated with everything going on in the rabbitry.

Galileo and Callisto

Went to York PA this morning and picked up these two Hollands from a breeder. They are very well behaved, they were kept well, and they are absolutely gorgeous.

First up we have Callisto. She is a BEW with piercing blue eyes. I've been looking for a BEW or REW for a while now, I would love to have those genetics. She is very sweet and fully litter trained. She is 3 months old, I will probably be breeding her with Galileo in Spring of 2020.

Last but not least we have Galileo. He has one pure blue eye, one pure brown eye. He's a Siamese Sable with one fully booted foot. When my sister raised rabbits with me we had one Siamese Sable mutt, but that's the only one I've ever had besides Galileo. He is also 3 months old, but totally unrelated to Callisto so I will be able to breed them. I love this coloring and was so excited when I saw him and Callisto for sale. They were a little far, but it was well worth the drive!

All my Hollands so far have blue eyes. I'm excited to start breeding them all and seeing all the different color combinations I get. My blue eyed blue female just had a litter of 7, it'll be exciting to see which ones have blue eyes and see how their colors turn out as they get older! I'm so excited to welcome Galileo and Callisto to my rabbitry.

Gustava's litter

Gustava gave birth to three very healthy looking kits on Friday! This is her first litter since I've had her, but she's had three litters total.

These pictures were taken the morning after they were born, but when they were first born they were so plump! Their little bellies were full and they looked so content!

The black kit had it's arm around their sibling! So precious!
I can't wait to find out their genders so I can start saying 'he' and 'she' :)

Light colored kit. Has some light markings on the back and head, I'm guessing it's going to be a broken blue tort (hopefully otter), but we'll see when the fur comes in more what color it will be.

This is my first litter of Velveteens, and my first litter dealing with otters, so I'm very excited!

This one appears to be solid black just like Gustava. I love the variation of colors in this litter! I got light, dark, and otter! Much more exciting than getting a litter of all the same colors, but whatever the colors, I'm just happy that they're all healthy and their are no peanuts or worrisome issues!

This kit is black otter. I'm really hoping it's a female so I can rationalize keeping it, I don't need any more males in my rabbitry currently, but I am in love with this color, especially on Velveteens!

I'm super excited to be getting into otters. I always thought it would be really cool to own an otter, and now I do! :)

This little cutie knows how to pose so well! This kit makes my heart melt!

This is the dam, Gustava. She has been insanely sweet since the moment I brought her home! She has let me touch the kits and hasn't seem upset in the slightest, she comes in and see's what I'm doing and then goes back out, she is insanely laid back and such a sweetheart! <3 The rabbit in the back about gave me a heart attack when I took this picture, but luckily she was just sleeping! I've noticed English lops seem to sleep on their sides like that a lot. It's adorable but also terrifying!

This is the sire, Arlo. He came named 'Bee,' but I thought Arlo fit him very well. I got him not knowing he was otter, and the owner didn't know either, and it was even marked on his pedigree that he was just broken black. I was very excited to learn that he was broken black otter and am very glad I got to welcome him to my rabbitry.

Thanks for checking out my posting! Keep an eye out for more pictures and updates on this and other litters. Hopefully sometime in the near future I will have a litter of Pedigreed English lops too!

Breeding Ophelia/Phillip and Gustava/Arlo

Late May and early June I welcomed two new rabbits to my rabbitry. The first rabbit is Arlo. His name was Bee when I got him and he has 'Bee' tattooed on the inside of his ear, but I think the name Arlo fits him well. He is a broken black otter Mini Rex buck, fully pedigreed. The second addition to my rabbitry is Ophelia. She is a blue tort English Lop doe.

She has nice, long ears, and she's a very sweet girl. She's a proven doe who comes from a great line. She is a nice, broad doe who will make a good breeder.

A few days after I adopted Ophelia I attempted to breed her with my English/Velveteen male, Phillip. He just turned 3 years old in June. He has never been bred and this far has just been a pet. My plan was to get him a girl and get into English lops.

He tried breeding her, and she was very patient with him, but he was more interested with licking her ears and even biting her ears than actually breeding her.

She got very frustrated with him.

After a few tries with long breaks in between, I decided to let little Arlo have a go at it. He was very enthusiastic about it, but with how small he is, he was unable to successfully breed her. It's been about a month since I bred them. I will be trying to get her a proven male soon, I would like to have a litter of English lops before the year is over, so I need to move fast, my window for breeding this year is closing, and I need to get my last litters in before fall.

Arlo was distracted by the other couple and lost interest in Gustava once he saw them. I had to put a divider between the cages so he could focus on his lady.

Once he was back in focus he did a fantastic job with her! Successfully bred her at least three times, which with breeding rabbits is the magic number! I believe he bred her successfully 5 times. He did a great job!

He's definitely a great male! I love his coloring, he's the first otter rabbit I've ever owned, and hopefully I will get lots of stunning otters out of him!
